| | | MONTHLY MEETINGS We will meet the first Thursday of each month at Cleary's Irish Pub in Howell from 7PM-8:30PM (non-smoking area). That allows for people to eat at home if they don't want to eat out, and rush hour traffic is gone by 7. Our meetings will have four parts. 1. Mingling during dinner During the eating by those who don't eat ahead of time, we will hang out and get to know each other. 2. Studies in Liberty We will discuss an assigned reading about liberty. Our first is going to be The Revolution: A Manifesto by Ron Paul. The new paperback edition has a new chapter on the fiscal crisis. On March 4, we will discuss the forward and Chapter 1. 3. News Anyone who has news about their town's or Lansing's policies can share what's happening so we can reinforce policies that promote liberty, and fight policies that reduce liberty. 4. Party Business Those who are members of the Libertarian Party of Michigan will discuss what we have going on regarding the Candidate Training in April and the caucus to select local candidates this summer. You do NOT have to be a member of the Libertarian Party of Michigan to attend these meetings. I am keeping party business for last so anyone who just wants to discuss liberty with us can leave after the News segment. We welcome anyone interested in a better Michigan to join us for the first three meeting parts. (And you don't have to leave for part 4 if you would like to see what the LPM is up to). Occasionally, we will have a guest speaker instead of our book or article discussion. I look forward to meeting all of you and hope that a regular meeting time and place will help us "get in the groove" for 2010. I will send another meeting notice in the first week of March, but for now, get a copy The Revolution: A Manifesto and start reading :-) In liberty, Tim Keirnan 517-223-8322 | Cleary's Irish Pub on Grand River, Howell | | |

| | | The Southeast Michigan 9.12 Project has invited all Michigan Tea Parties and allied grassroots organizations to come to a rally starting at the southeast corner of Big Beaver and Coolidge, at the Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan on January 16, 2010 at noon. Note: Though not an LPM sponsored event, we expect the rally to be of general interest to Michigan Libertarians The Southeast Michigan 9.12 Project is a non-partisan, non-profit organization of concerned citizens. Our belief is that we must strive to put hostility aside, and address our nation’s very real challenges in an atmosphere that will truly give us hope, and that will lead to honest change. While we will be exercising our Constitutional rights by rallying, our mission is 3 fold: education, political activism, and organizing disenfranchised American citizens. Our peacefully rally’s purpose is to express our concern and indignation with our elected representatives in Washington D.C. Congress and the President have failed to acknowledge that fellow citizens of the United States are concerned that the 2,000 pages plus bill will soon be passed into law. The result of this law will ultimately force everyone into a Federally mandated health care program. This one size fits all bill that is laden with pork, and is being forced upon the citizens of the United States does not remedy the problem. There are other alternatives. Congress and the President have refused to consider those alternatives all during the 2009, and now are recklessly deconstructing the best health care system in the world. We are asking everyone to come as a family. We are asking everyone to ask their friends to come, and then to ask their friend’s friends to come. Come and learn more. We will also be handing out our early releases of the State of the State and State of the Union Addresses. ### | Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan (Big Beaver and Coolidge Roads) | | |

| | | [This is an item of interest to our members, not an event sponsored by the Libertarian Party of Michigan] A good oportunity to reach people who are learning that Democrats can be as interventionist as Republicans. The Detroit Area Peace with Justice Network (DAPJN) is calling for a protest of any escalation in Afghanistan. A demonstration will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday. It will be held at the Federal Building in Downtown Detroit (the McNamara Building at 477 Michigan Ave.). Some signs are available or bring your own -- "Out of Afghanistan". According to an Associated Press article on Nov 24, "The president said he would reveal his decision on how many additional soldiers to deploy to Afghanistan after Thanksgiving. The White House is aiming for an announcement by Obama either Tuesday or Wednesday in a national address. Congressional hearings will quickly follow."

| | | Just a reminder to those who wish to do a big favor for their favorite candidate: Many candidates and supporters abandon their lawn signs (on public property), but sign wires are one of the more expensive items for a candidate to purchase. Please help clean up these unsightly wires and save them for the election in 2010. | | | |

Participants are encouraged to decorate their cars with pro-freedom slogans, flags, signs, etc. The procession will travel down Telegraph to 8 Mile, East to Woodward, North on Woodward to Pontiac, and will follow Oakland Ave back to Telegraph and Walton. Although this is not organized by Libertarians directly, I feel as the Party of Freedom, we should attend and spread awareness of the Party to those with similar views. I have literature to hand out to those who show interest in learning more about our Party. See you there!
