2009 LibertyFest Dinner

This years event was on November 14th at the Marriott at Eagle Crest Resort, 1275 S. Huron St in Ypsilanti. The program ran from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and included a cash bar, dinner, award presentation, and speakers:

David Littmann, Sr. Economist of the Mackinac Center, "Impact Issues for Candidates in 2010."

Wes Benedict, National Executive Director of the Libertarian Party from Washington DC, "Why Libertarians Make a Difference"

Rose Bogaert (chairwoman of the Wayne County Taxpayers Association) won the Spokesperson for Liberty Award - As a member of the community whose patriotism and conviction have inspired contributions to the cause of Liberty.

Mark Byrne (out-going member of the Port Huron City Council) won the Promoter of Liberty Award - As a Libertarian whose efforts have done the most to promote the LP and Libertarian principles.

Lawrence Johnson (Ypsilanti Parks Commissioner) won the Producer of Liberty Award - As a dedicated, behind-the-scenes Libertarian whose quiet labors over the years exemplifies the backbone of the LP.

Defender of Liberty Awards

Defender of Liberty Awards ("Libbies") have been presented at our annual LibertyFest Banquet to a maximum of four select individuals, Libertarian or otherwise, who have made notable personal efforts in the defense of liberty. Winners must live and/or work in the state of Michigan.

Three categories have been established:

Spokesperson for Liberty - a member of the community whose patriotism and conviction have inspired contributions to the cause of Liberty

Promoter of Liberty - A Libertarian whose efforts have done the most to promote the LP and Libertarian principles

Producer of Liberty - a dedicated, behind-the-scenes Libertarian whose quiet labors over the years exemplifies the backbone of the LP.

A fourth award is available to be given at the judge’s discretion.
